Defeated Ivey and Hellmuth at WSOP final table: There's definitely more pre
David "Bakes" Baker was able to fend off two of the biggest legends in poker when he won the $10K HORSE event yesterday.
Both Phil Hellmuth and Phil Ivey were at the final table for event #34 ($10,000 HORSE) yesterday but they couldn't handle David Baker.
The dark horse at the final table did the unthinkable and scooped up his 2nd WSOP bracelet by beating the two Phil's who's got a combined 20 gold bracelets.
The final table was one of the toughest ever seen. There were 6 former WSOP winners and a combined 25 gold bracelets competing for the title. WOW!
"This one feels like more of an accomplishment. Obviously the first time, you can never get over that. But, this one feels really good and probably a little bit better now that I’m a little more seasoned," Baker told WSOP.com afterwards.
"The stage is packed, everyone is watching, and the two most famous players in the game are right there. So yeah, the spotlight is on and you don’t want to make a bad play, you don’t want to make a mistake, and the money adds to the pressure," said Baker and continued: "It’s the WSOP, you can do well here and not have to work for the rest of the year."
I guess Baker can take a well deserved break now. The win brought him $451.779.
