Apparently the gaming authorities in Macau have received an application for a tournament with a buy-in of HKD$2,000,000 with the one re-buy on top!

The most expensive poker tournament the world has ever seen yet is the AUS$250,000 Challenge during Aussie Millions - held in 2011 and 2012.

The record will be shattered - no it's more…demolished - on the 1st of July 2012 in Las Vegas where the Big One for One Drop will take place with an astronomical buy-in of USD$1,000,000.

Later that summer there's another chance to play for really big bucks, because Macau will be hosting its very own super high roller too.

According to the rumors the gaming authorities in the Chinese region have received an application for a tournament with a buy-in set at HKD$2,000,000. It will be possible to get on re-buy at the tournament - same price.

It's supposed to be a side event for APT Macau - and if the whispers are any true there's already 30 confirmed names for the showdown!

The most expensive tournament in Asia up until now was the HKD$1,000,000 Manila Millions, played in April this year.
